Why you need Sports Massage and Sports Therapy
As a therapis, I’m not only concerned with treatment and management of sports injuries, but also the prevention and good training practice needed for a healthy body.
When I Examine and treat you, my goal is not only to relieve your symptoms, but also to remove the conditions that can predispose you to injury, stop the pain of the injury and try to stop it re-occurring. Leaving you fit and able to carry on with your exercise plans.
Preconditioning for Exercise Assessment
This is a full-body check, Think of this as your musculoskeletal MOT. During this I note stiffness or restriction of the joints and the muscles acting across them. This involves a taking full case history including previous medical conditions and injuries. Using the osteopathic approach of how symptoms in one part of your body may be related to a problem in another place I will help you prepare for exercise, as well as giving you advice on how to avoid injuries, any improvements you can make to your own conditioning. I may also recommend some sports massage or rehab treatments to get you back on track
This is a 60 minute appointment.
Osteopathic Sports Massage and Therapy:
For those who’ve already been training. Think of this as you would a service for your car. It’s there to prevent breakdowns. I’ll take the tightness out of those muscles, improve the movement at your joints leaving you looser, more relaxed with better to flow and ready to go out the next day. Appointments are 30 minutes or 60 minutes depending on what’s needed. I recommend that you take a full hour for your first appointment. This allows the me to give a much more thorough treatment and enables me to focus on any areas that are particularly troublesome.
For people who have an injury or have a recurring injury. If you were a car this would be a repair, because occasionally, even in the best cared for car you get break downs. Unfortunately so does our body, but using the osteopathic principle of structure and function are inter-related I will treat your structure and help you regain your normal function and get back to your usual activities fast as I possibly can.
This is a 30 minute appointment.
